About Fluid Intake – I Drink; Therefore, I Pee

Our bodies are 60% water; so, to stay healthy, it is only natural that we replenish our water intake on a daily basis. However, we often pay more attention to the amount we take in than the amount we release.

We are taught a healthy amount of just water intake is about 64 ounces a day. This is often broken down into eight 8-ounce cups a day. However, as time has progressed, that number has changed as well! For example, The Institute of Medicine in 2005 measured fluid intake not only by the actual amount of water one drinks but also by liquids from foods or other drinks containing water.

Did You Know Pee Holding Can Lead to Bladder Leakage?

Did You Know Pee Holding Can Lead to Bladder Leakage?

During the day, we aren’t always thinking about the long-term effects of our actions on our general health.  Instead, we tend to be more focused on our daily tasks and checking items off our to-do lists. This leads to us ignoring the things our body is telling us.  We don’t eat when we’re hungry or drink water when we’re thirsty.  And we ignore the fact we have to pee.  Consistent pee holding is a bad habit we form as working women, and it may lead to future negative effects like bladder leakage.  But there is a solution to changing this bad habit before it does damage.

4 Ways for Adult Women to Maintain a Healthy Bladder

4 Ways for Adult Women to Maintain a Healthy Bladder

With a new year comes the focus of re-commitment to health. Many adults set health-related goals, change their diets, and join gyms. Others begin by scheduling physicals with their doctors. While both of these are great ways to start and/or continue a focus on one’s health, unless there is a problem, most people don’t think about their bladder health. But a healthy bladder is just as important as other aspects of one’s health. Women, in particular, should be thinking about bladder health. According to the Urology Care Foundation, “…of the 25 million people in the United States that experience loss of bladder control, 75% are women.” While this may seem like an additional concern for women to focus on, there are 4 simple things women can do that will support and maintain a healthy bladder.

2 Reasons Why Holding Your Pee is Bad for You

2 Reasons Why Holding Your Pee is Bad for You

Before I created Road Trip Potty, I held it even though I clearly knew I had to pee.  Sometimes I held it because I was in a meeting or was in class and leaving to go pee would have caused a disruption.  Other times, like when I was traveling in a vehicle, a restroom option wasn’t readily available.  And then there were the other occasions when I told myself, “Nah, you can hold it a little bit longer because you really don’t have to go that bad.”  Had I known then what I know now about why holding it is bad for you, I would have NEVER gotten into the habit of…

Porta Potty Blues

Porta Potty Blues

After I envisioned the concept and design of Road Trip Potty, I found myself doubting whether there was a true need for a portable female urinal that you keep in the car.  I knew I needed one because I frequently had to pee, especially when I traveled.  I even had a strategy of locating possible restroom stops whenever I knew I needed to be in the car longer than 30 to 45 minutes.
